Best, Thanks, Sincerely...

In the words of my friend who does email marketing for a living: “Yawn!” Instead of saying something like “take care” or “have a great day,” try using something with more personality

It’s that saying: “People don’t necessarily remember what you say, but they do remember how you make them feel”

Every email you send to a prospect should demonstrate your expertise and brand, so make sure your sign-off is on point

No matter what industry you work in, you'll always be selling yourself in emails

Closing an email with something catchy won’t just make you stand out but also give you one last chance to connect with the receiver

Make note of 20 incredibly winsome and witty ways to sign-off an email and make an impression in 2023

Here are five templates to help you get started:

  1. "I'm interested in learning about your [challenge]"

When you're emailing the prospect to schedule a discovery call, use your sign-off to position yourself as a trusted consultant

  2. "Excited to tackle [painpoint] with you"

This is perfect for a follow-up after a discovery call to show your potential client you're happy and available to help

  3. "Drop me a line if you've got any questions about [service]"

You likely spoke about XYZ solutions/services during your discovery call. But, if they have questions or need clarity, you can use your sign-off to let them know you’re on hand to answer them

  4. "Hope your week's off to a good start"

Use this cheery closing line when you don't know the prospect well (and don't want to put them off with something too familiar or cheeky)

  5. "Will follow up with more info soon ..."

Keep the connection open with a little suspense by promising more to come

Here are some other interesting ways to sign-offs that have worked well for me, just make sure to use them in the appropriate context

Practical Email Sign-Offs [aka professional]

  • "sincerely"

  • "respectfully"

  • "all the best"

Funny Email Sign-Offs

  • "may the sales be with you"

  • "hakuna matata"

  • "namaste"

  • "carpe diem"

  • "rock 'n' roll"

  • "*happy dance*"

  • "champagne and confetti"

Follow-up Email Sign-Offs

  • "stay tuned"

  • "I'll circle back to you shortly"

  • "talk soon"

  • "let's grab a coffee next time"

Congratulator or Compliment Email Sign-Offs

  • "you're an inspiration"

  • "you rock"

  • "keep up the great work [and insert something they do well]"

And whatever you do, do not close an email with...

  • "yours truly"

  • "love"

  • "XOXO"

But when words arn’t enough….

  • insert an emoji

  • Insert an animated gif

“People don’t necessarily remember what you say, but they do remember how you make them feel”

Our brains are wired to pay more attention to novelty

So if you use a more creative sign-off, people are more likely to remember you

That’s all for now

Happy emailing!
